Culled from Story of Uqbah Bin Amir (r.a.) who is considered as a father of the Fulɓe in some traditions.

Uqbah bin Amir (r.a.)  was a shepherd. He used to herd sheep on the meadows of Madinah. When he was on the mountain, he heard that the Prophet (pbuh) had migrated to Madinah. It was impossible for him to remain there any longer. He wanted to see the Prophet. He left the sheep there and went straight to Madinah. He asked where the Messenger of Allah was. As soon as he found about the house he was living in, he went into the presence of the Messenger of Allah. When he saw the Messenger of Allah, he felt very relieved and his heart became full of light. He felt as if he was he was about to fly.  He had never felt such excitement before and he had never been happier before. He himself could not believe in the changes in his spirit. The Messenger of Allah told him some pearls of truth and taught him the principles of Islam. Uqba did not have any hesitation to become a believer. He became a Companion. He was a distinguished Companion among the People of Suffa.[1] After th

Your friends are avoiding your company. People won’t avoid you until and unless you are doing something wrong or useless in your life. You don’t have any savings in your account even though you are earning good. You never know when the life will take a U turn and you or your family are diagnosed with diseases that need expensive treatment. You sleep too late and wake of at the middle of the day. It’s okay to do so if your work demands it, otherwise have a healthy routine to live a healthy life. Your weight is increasing and you still eat junk all the time. Take care of your health otherwise you won’t be able to enjoy the later part of your life. You are failing constantly and blaming other people for your failure. It’s time to look into the mirror and check what went wrong and also improve yourself. Stay healthy and live your life happily. Cheers!!!

10 WAYS YOUTH CAN MAKE AN IMPACT.

Image
By Giovanna Lucignano, Social Media intern, Bureau for External Relations and Advocacy, UNDP. “We are addressing youth today, because youth have placed themselves on the top of the agenda.”– B anKi-Moon Youth activism and engagement can bring about important social changes that are sometimes left behind. You  don’t have to wait to be an adult  to be an active member of your community. Your opinion matters and it should be heard. Here’s a list of ideas of how you can participate locally and globally: 1.  Know your rights : You might not be able to vote yet, but all children and youth hold national and international  rights . These rights are only of use to you if you are informed about them, so read up! 2.  Learn about local issues : Is a roadblock affecting your commute to school? Are the new taxes affecting your family’s livelihood? Whatever the case, learning the issue will help in creating solutions that will have an impact on you. 3.  Speak out : Spea

Before we delve into the matter, let me decode the message in text,  word for word: "About the economy, we have a very young population, our population is estimated conservatively to be 180 million. This is a very conservative one. More than 60 percent of that population is below 30, a lot of them haven’t been to school and they are claiming that Nigeria is an oil  producing country, therefore, they should sit and do nothing, and Get housing, healthcare, education for free." - PMB To begin with the population figures, let me highlight assumptions based on existing information about Nigeria. The current (projected) population of Nigeria is 194,826,327 as of Thursday, April 19, 2018, based on the latest United Nations estimates. Nigeria population is equivalent to 2.57% of the total world population. Nigeria ranks number 7 in the list of countries (and dependencies) by population. The population density in Nigeria is 215 per Km2 (557 people per mi2). The total land are

LAWLESSNESS IN THE NIGERIAN UPPER CHAMBER

Image
The sad incident of lawlessness that occurred today in the National Assembly precisely in the Sanate chamber, the supposedly highest law making body in the country speaks volume of our democratic idiocy. From the smuggling of thugs to the Hallowed Chamber, the lawlessness that transpired, the seizing of the Mace which is the symbol of law and order in the country as well as the dramatic exit of the thugs through the presidential enttance who are sponsored by a Senator and possibly backed by higher influential people is as a result of  things are not the way they suppose to be.  According to national discourse, the following are some of the factors that lead to this shameful act that made Nigeria as whole as a laughing stock in the comity of nations include.  1. The SAK mantra as a result of failure in the past government that lead us to haphazardly elect idiots into sensitive offices.  2. The face-off that exist in the APC led government between the Executive and the Legislative ar

A lot of us educated folks are busy looking for a good paying job here and there  everyday. But the truth is, the world of work is shrinking by the day and as such there are no jobs to absorb the number of graduates produced by our universities any longer. The government CAN NOT and WILL NOT create jobs. Truth be told, our Universities are just  reproducing job seekers and not job creators. They train you to become employees and not employers because our learning syllabus has not changed and it is the same old stuff they keep teaching over the years. The white collar jobs are no longer there, they are disappearing everyday. In fact the bank workers will tell you that there is nothing special in the banking sector any more. The counter is becoming empty and the queue are becoming longer in the banks, simply because they can not pay staffs any longer. These are facts we know. Some years back, we saw how banks were making every other job look inferior and one would wish if only I can

ONLY THROUGH SELF-UNDERSTANDING.... By Eleesha

“THROUGH SELF UNDERSTANDING, LIFE’S OBJECTIVES ARE NOT JUST DEFINED, BUT GRACIOUSLY FULFILLED.” ~ ELEESHA Coming to know who you truly are will be an essential part of your life’s learning because this understanding will help you to move forward in life – based upon what you have either come to know or understand about yourself. One of the beautiful things about self understanding is that it helps you gauge how best you can move forward or how far you can expect to proceed, towards a particular direction in your life. This is because through self understanding, you will come to understand all that will be required of you in life – to ultimately define; achieve; and fulfill; your life’s objectives. Today, take the opportunity to come to a full understanding of yourself so that when you think about who and what you are – you can actually look forward with anticipation – to the person that you will soon become.
