Ability, Motivation, and Attitude

Image
Hi everybody! There are three things that determines your success, viz:          "Ability is what you're capable of doing.             Motivation determines what you do and              Attitude determines how well you do it." Lou Holtz There are three primary aspects of your life that will determine whether or not you are successful in your endeavors. You will not be successful if you have only one or two. You must have all three working together. Consider them like the three legs of a "stool of success." Ability - the level at which you are able to actually do things. Your skill level. If you have a high level of skill, that's good. And the better you get, the better it will be for you. To the degree that you can perform your actions at higher and higher skill levels, the more and more success you will find in your chosen field. Motivation - the level at which you are able to find "a reason to act." This is the internal drive th

It Takes Each Of Us To Make A Difference For All Of Us

Posted by  lollydaskal   Competition today is fierce; change is everywhere and windows of opportunity seem to be gone before they are fully open. In times like this the responsibility of leadership can feel heavier than usual. But it doesn’t have to be this way. The honest truth is this: We can all succeed and we can all be less stressed if everyone has the opportunity to lead and does their share. If we work together and have one another’s backs, then we will all share in our wins. Here are some simple but significant ways we can all lead, and succeed, together: Everyone leads . If each of us were to step up to own our own leadership, we would have a huge number of people taking action and moving forward and creating a great force. The drive for leadership carries itself forward. Everyone contributes . The job of a leader is to get everyone to understand and believe that each one has something powerful to contribute, and that their contribution is vital to success. The more div

Smile its Friday!

Image
Hi,  folks, It's Friday again! The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "When you smile to your brother's face, it is charity." This is an authentic hadîth. It is related in  Sunan al-Tirmidhî (1879) and al-Tirmidhî declared it to be good. It is also related in  Sahîh Ibn Hibbân  (475 & 530) and  Musnad al-Bazzâr .  A man called his friend on the phone thousands of miles away. He said: "So I can be sure of your feelings, I want you to give me smile. And his friend really did smile – a genuine smile from the heart – and the effects of his smile could be heard in his voice while he spoke to his friend overseas. This made the man happy – that someone would smile upon a suggestion, though the other person could not even see him. There is great wisdom in the Prophet's words: "When you smile to your brother's face is charity."  And indeed, the Prophet (peace be upon him) followed this advice in his everyday life, so much so that `Abd Allah b

UK to develop floating wind farms

Image
Why the UK is developing floating wind farms . Statoil has made the  final investment decision  to build the world’s first floating wind farm after getting an approval from the Scottish Government in early November 2015. So, why is the UK developing floating wind farms? Why wind? The UK has signed a legally binding agreement with the EU in 2009 that means that by 2020, 15% of the total energy consumed in UK has to be produced by renewable sources. This means that by 2020, 35% of the electricity the UK needs must be produced by renewable sources. The government are mostly relying on wind to fulfil this target because it is one of the most reliable energy sources in the UK, and the wind turbine technology is the most mature. The government intends to install a wind power capacity of 15GW onshore and 13GW offshore. This is an incredibly ambitious plan. The average rated power of a single onshore wind turbine is 1.6MW (enough to power around 800 homes), and offshore wind turbines are

Supreme Court’s Recent Judgements on Elections, Perverse – Sagay

The Head of Presidential Anti-Corruption Committee, Prof Itse Sagay, yesterday raised fresh concern over recent rulings of the Supreme Court on election petitions, particularly those of Rivers and Akwa Ibom states, The Nation reports. Sagay, who spoke with journalists at the Palace of the Olu of Warri, Delta State, warned that the rulings, which gave victory to candidates regardless of copious evidence of irregularities and heavy human and material casualties, constituted a dangerous precedence in the history of elections. He said; “the judgements are very perverse, particularly relating to Akwa Ibom and Rivers. Everybody knows that there were no elections in those two states. “Everybody knows that people like Wike climbed into the governorship seat over dead bodies and over blood of human beings. There were no elections, they wrote the results; the evidence is there. “So, what the Supreme Court has done is to set the clock of electoral excellence and fairness and credibility back
